Allegheny River Public Access & Recreation Plan
Ingalls Planning & Design was selected by the City of Olean and its partners – the City of Salamanca; the Towns of Allegany, Portville, Olean, and Salamanca, and the Villages of Portville and Allegany – to prepare a public access and recreation plan for the Allegheny River. IPD evaluated and provided options for a multi-use recreational trail system, which was a key focus of the plan, along the river.
The plan also recommended strategies and identified projects to enhance and expand public access to waterfront areas where appropriate; preserve open space and natural resources; and identify new tourism infrastructure and recreation projects to promote the river corridor. The Allegheny River Public Access & Recreation Plan won the Best Practice Award from the American Planning Association - Upstate New York Chapter. |
