Greece Comprehensive Plan
Greece has a population of nearly 100,000 and is the largest town in Monroe County. It has historically been home to several significant employment centers, strong retail corridors, and walkable residential neighborhoods. However, the conditions surrounding many of these assets are creating challenges that Greece has never been faced with; a rapidly changing retail market, an aging housing stock in a nearly build-out residential market, and an aging population, to name a few.
Ingalls Planning & Design co-led a planning process to develop an update to Greece's 2001 Master Plan. Following a quantitative and qualitative analysis, several key focus areas were identified early in the planning process, which helped tell the story of what is and has been happening in Greece. The focus areas emphasize economic development including both industry and the retail market, infrastructure and services, housing and neighborhoods, and the waterfront. Following the planning process, Town planning staff swiftly started implementation with the development of several zoning code amendments. |
