PK4Keeps - Poughkeepsie Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code Update
Ingalls Planning & Design (IPD) along with czb LLC assisted the City of Poughkeepsie in updating the City’s comprehensive plan and amending its zoning code. During the development of the zoning code, IPD created several mixed use zoning districts for the City to better accommodate desired land use and to cultivate a higher quality of design for Poughkeepsie’s built environment.

Key revisions / amendments  include:
  • Simplification of the district framework, reducing total districts from 29 to 19
  • Allowance of a wider variety of housing types (such as “missing middle”) in multi-unit districts
  • Right-sized dimensional requirements for some residential districts to allow for additional housing units
  • Addition of mixed-use districts to provide land use flexibility
  • Inclusion of form standards for all base districts to promote good urban form​
  • Density bonuses
